A Well Water test is required for FHA, VA & RD Loans which require testing for the following:

• Lead
• Nitrates
• Nitrites
• E-Coli
• Total Coliforms

NOTE: Many Counties Do NOT test for lead and/or Nitrates

I usually find it easier, quicker, and possibly as cost effective to go through a private company for a water test. Here are a few people in Michigan that will test for the lead and Nitrates as well:
